With time, I have come to believe that knowledge goes far beyond epistemology, transcends cognitive processes, and consists of an experiential journey. I came to this realization thanks to FR. Bernard Lonergan, S.J.'s works on the nature of insight and its relevance to education. Rather than referring to knowledge as an abstract concept, he explains the experiential process that humans follow to gain insight. Thus, he talks about 'knowing and learning' instead of just knowledge. I put together my own thoughts on the subject and used Joseph Campbell's hero's journey archetype in an article that can be accessed here: https://www.slideshare.net/ajbencosme/the-saga-of-insight-a-heroic-perspective-on-knowing-and-learning-and-the-potential-it-holds-for-education-244945795

Our Miniature Schnauzers: Teachers and Companions

Bringing home Titania, a 10-week-old female salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer puppy was a complete surprise for my wife. It was a memorable emotional event as we embraced that little dark furry doggie that immediately became a light beam in our daily existence. A year later we felt that Titania…
